Quite a lot has happened since the last
update in June. To put it briefly, team rider Abdil "Furlong" Mahdzan
had already raced in 2 events, namely the 2005 IGSA World
Cup USA from June 3-5 and the 2005 IGSA World Cup Sweden
from June 27-July 1. The race report for the World Cup
USA has already been written, whereas the race report
for the World Cup Sweden will be written after Furlong
gets back from his next race in New York which is taking
place this weekend (July 30-31). The event in New York
is none other than the Madison County Gravity Festival
(or MCGF for short) and this is the 4th year in a row
that the event is being held. This event promises to be
bigger and better than ever.
In
other related news, Bill Smrtic and Stacy Allen, who are
exceptionally talented racers from Oklahoma, were terribly
injured while street luging this past weekend. They had
been to the MCGF event last year and will be dearly missed
at this year's event. Everyone from the gravity sports
community would like to offer these 2 brave racers and
their families their thoughts and prayers for a speedy
recovery.
To
everyone else out there, please take care while riding
and ride within your limits. There have been quite a number
of street luge related accidents this year, including
Furlong himself who crashed at Reno Monument in Maryland
back in March but fortunately was not injured other than
having a throbbing headache after his helmet hit the pavement
at high speed. Two tablets of aspirin cured that.
More
updates coming after MCGF IV !
