Martin Siegrist, the 2004 IGSA Downhill Skateboard World Champion, was in Malaysia to help out a Swiss friend with an indoor climbing gym project. As such, he took the opportunity to ride various roads while he was in the country. Some of the places that Martin had hit up included Bukit Tinggi, Fraser Hill to KKB, Changkat Tunku, and even Ukay Perdana which I had even hit up back in 2002 for a TV shoot.

The following photos and text are taken with permission from Martin himself at his website.

flower pool This flower shaped fountain was empty, no water... Luckily I had my skateboard with me, always ready!

Drop in, skate everything!
road sign KL city has some very nice roads for skateboarding.

Watch out - bumps ahead!
freeride at night Danger! Skater sliding riding drifting downhill. I used to go city freeriding late in the evening. It wasn't as hot as at daytime, nevertheless I was sweating like crazy. Bahaya!
road sign This is my favorite freeride. A lonely hill in the middle of KL city. Smooth tar, steep and almost no cars.
mirror There are even some nice turns! The only bad thing about Changkat Tunku are the yellow lines from the top to the bottom of the hill...
wuff This stupid dog tried to climb through the fence. Most probably he wanted to chase a skater!

Bad idea!
shredded wheels After three months of hard riding, my 3dm Avilas were worn down to the core.
KKB Frazer Hill was my first downhill in Malaysia. This road is really out in the jungle. One turn after another.
Frazer Hill seems to be an endless hill, like a never ending road!
The last section of Frazer Hill looks like a highway.

Two lanes, big turns.
This is a 2.5km speed run with a topspeed of 82km/h and an average speed of 60km/h. A nice hill for riding everything tucked. You only get the topspeed if you ride the turns clean - it's all about lines and aerodynamics...
What the hell is this guy doing? I think these guys haven't seen a downhill skater before.
Ukay Perdana is a nice hill with almost no turns, but also a pretty dangerous road, cause there are some hot intersections and too many cars.

Not recommended!
Be aware of motorcycles and slow cars and cracks!
Ukay Perdana: 2.5km - 80km/h
Bukit Tinggi resort features a replica of Colmar (F)! Check the website for any further information. This here is the main road and it's not that cool. There are some uphill sections and the turns are fairly dangerous. The tar looks good but it's sometimes very slippery. OK for a run or two...
I have to work on my position, get my ass higher up.
Footbraking for another turn...
Head down! Lower!
My legs are already tired.
Nice turns.
The road is nice for motorbiking!
Some turns are endless.
The Bukit Tinggi Clubhouse road is a skateboard heaven. Turns, turns and more turns. Steep sections, flat sections, uphill sections, this road is a rollercoaster. It's awesome!

Here some details: 7km, 10% max. steepness, 50km/h average, 80km/h topspeed...
Bukit Tinggi would be a ideal spot for a cool race. 7km is fairly long for a race, but why not splitting the whole thing in two parts. Anyway this road is crazy.
Why is this spot sooo far away from home? Why?
Come on...
Don't you like it?
Maybe one day we're all riding Bukit Tinggi together, racing hard on one of the best roads on the planet!
helmet Here we did a photo shot for Plan B. This is a Malaysian male style mag. The road is once more Bukit Tinggi, such a nice spot...
straight line a-a-a-a-action!
sweaper go fast!
in the studio And now my first studio shots!
in the studio Mr. Globe
in the studio ...
